Accepting new clients!

I am a Colorado native, born and raised in Fort Collins. My husband and I live in Greeley now with our 2-year-old daughter. I received my Bachelor’s of Social Work and Master’s of Art with a Counseling and Career Development specialization from CSU. I have over 10 years of experience working with kids in a variety of settings and a wide range of ages. I have been a supervisor of parental visitations, caseworker for Child Protection Services, coach, children’s ministry teacher, mentor, and most recently working in a school counselor role at both elementary and high school level.

My theoretical approach predominately involves Reality Therapy/Choice Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through use of play, if developmentally appropriate. I love incorporating Choice Theory into my practice with kids because it allows them the opportunity to analyze how their choices impact outcomes and can give them power, when they might feel powerless. I use CBT to help with those overwhelming negative thoughts. It is critical to bring attention to those and combat them with therapeutic tools. I practice play therapy and am working towards my certification to become a Registered Play Therapist. I am a Christian, which is what drives my love and passion for people. I would love to incorporate that into my practice, however, am always happy to cater to my clients preferences and desires. I am very fluid in my work and my biggest takeaway from coaching for 8 years is how different each child responds to different methods of help and being adaptable based on that.

Lastly, I feel very passionate for kids to work through mental health issues and trauma as they are happening. I was led to this career by unresolved mental health issues in childhood. In adulthood, I had opportunity to unpack those issues, however, it was much harder and deeper to do at that point. I would have loved to have the knowledge and freedom when I was younger. I’m so glad I have it now, but urge parents to give your child to have a chance at that freedom and peace in their childhood years.
